Transitioning from a 2RX to a 3IS
Who has switched from an RX to the 2014 IS? Finally test drove a 3IS F-Sport today. Obviously I felt a little more cramped/constricted being used to sitting in a more spacious vehicle for the past 5 years. Did you get over the space issue quickly? Thanks
For me, not an issue having owned all these cars ranging from the most cramped 2IS, to the roomiest 3RX. I'm shy of 5'9, medium build so I fit in either car without issue. The one thing that can contribute to the more cramped perception is the all black dash/headliner (and if seats are all black as well) on the 3IS F-Sport. I remember our 2RX had the light tan interior/headliner/dash which felt airier than the 3RX F-Sport which is all black despite the 3RX being slightly roomier in the front. Thing is I got used to it and adjusted without issue. Remember, the 2RX also has flatter seats with practically no lateral support whereas the IS has seats that hug you so well that this may also contribute to your perception of feeling cramped - but this is a great thing as this lends to a feeling of comfort and security especially on the curves.
Honestly, unless you're a really tall big framed guy, you'll love the 3IS, Good luck!
Thank you for the advice! During my test drive I wasn't used to the side on my right knee touching the middle console wall. I think I can get used to that though. Ultimately, I'm ready for a sedan again. I'm single. I am usually the only one in my car ... I really don't need the space that comes with an SUV. But I will definitely miss being "higher" on the road

). I didn't notice this with the 3IS and it's possibly because of my experience and habit I got with the use of the CT. Thread
