I would think they just guessed at the $40k because of the IS. If not I think that is a terrible idea. That is what I hated about my Mitsubishi Evo. Most people had no idea it was any different than a pos lancer that cost half as much. I hope I'm right for the sake of the car! If not I agree that no one is going to want a car with that similar of a "cheap" little brother.

 

Interesting times, the engine choices are enough to make me wait. The new IS was so tempting for me, good thing I waited to see what Lexus has coming out in the near future. Great time to be a consumer.

What Motortrend forgot is that Australian car prices are jacked up compared to an equivalent US car even after taking into account currency exchange rates.

For example, in that same Australian article, the Aussie Lexus IS-F is mentioned to cost $126,300 Australian dollars. That's $116,246 US dollars, which is far higher than what the US version ISF retails for.

False Alarm Folks! Lexus is too smart to price itself out of the market.

 

Unfortunately the RC-F will still be out of my price range even with the fixed conversion. Good news for those that can buy it though. Maybe I'll get a used one in the future.

 

I like it a lot, got so comfortable in my 4dr wonder how it would feel goin back to a coupe....

 

Im saving up - $75k hopefully.

100k would be too much for me though.

Knew the price would be competitive.

 

So in roughly one year from now, we will be seeing one of Lexus's most important models to come along in a long long time. Not that others like the CT weren't big, but cars like the RC will be the epitome of the Lexus line. "Entry-level" class, but swooped up with sexy styling and the latest design direction for the company. Like the BMW 4, this is a big status car and a very important niche to establish oneself in. And a side bonus is those who can't afford the two-door, will cheerfully be shown a regular IS in the showroom. It's a win-win situation for the brand.
I'm excited, and I haven't been excited over a Lexus model since the IS-F.

 

RC350. Any chance an FSport model?

 

If the IS gets the F-Sport package, stands to reason that the sportier RC, which even has a full fledged F model, would get F-Sport treatment.

 

the RC350 will probably have all the sporty bits without actually having the F Sport name/badge.

 

I feel the same way. I had coupes early in life. Civic Coupe, Accord Coupe, RSX and then I started getting 4dr in my 30's. Prius, IS250, CT200h and now a 14 IS250 on order.

I don't have kids and I rarely take on more than one passenger so a coupe still makes sense. I would be willing to spend $40k+ on an entry level version.

 

According to the Motor Trend article, the RC350 will be equipped with a Torsen LSD.

 

Don't expect RC to be anywhere near $40k. Cheapest will be around ISF price.

 

If the RC-F is priced between 60-70k, count me in for one.
