I took an IS 350 non F-Sport for a test drive this weekend. Overall it was an enjoyable experience but I expected more kick during acceleration, especially from a full stop. Will this improve after the "break in" period? I had a 2012 Maxima for a rental a few months back and it felt more powerful despite having less horses than IS. I was using automatic mode for the most part. Fiddled with paddle shifters while on the highway.

IS350 is significantly faster than Maxima... however it is a luxury car, so you probably dont experience all the noise like you do in Maxima.
Omg, just stop. The Maxima is FWD CVT boat with a horrible interior.
The IS is the opposite.
The Maxima's throttle tip-in was probably tuned to be more sensitive. Lots of car makers do this to fool ignorant consumers into thinking the car "feels" fast when in actuality it runs out of steam sooner than you'd expect if you actually measured it instrumentally.
The Maxima is inferior to the IS in every appreciable way, except for space maybe. Every way.
