Automotive news reporting that there will be an RC coupe and an RC-F.

It wont be called the SC, it will be the RC, this is almost a given.

Makes sense to me, why do both an IS and GS based coupe when you can a do ONE RC?

Make and RC with the 2.0t, maybe a 350 middle engine, and an F. Call it a day, no need for IS and GS based coupes, and maybe no ISF sedan, but I hope they keep the ISF sedan with the 3IS.

Seems to be a similar path to what BMW is taking, calling their new coupe a 4 Series and having it much more loosely based on the 3 series sedan than in the past. It will now sit between the 3 Series and 5 Series. Same principal with the 6 Series (between 5 and 7). MB has also gone that route. I believe the last E Coupe was actually based on the C Class but is now based on the E Class. Lexus could easily position the RC between the IS and GS.

Yeah, the dust is beginning to settle...

RC (gets the 306hp motor)
RC-F (gets a 460hp V8)

Based on the LF-CC platform it would appear. Should be pretty hot.

Yea most likely. The IS and GS platforms are actually identical, hence the plan would be for the coupe to probably cover both segments. Kind of like how Mercedes does it with their E and C Class coupes, which both share the C Class chassis underneath.

I do hope the tail lights aren't final though; I much prefer the look of the 3IS tail lights to the 4GS. It does look like the front has separate DRLs as well.

Tokyo Motor Show looks like a goer for Akio. It's to unleash his babies - he did say he decided to personally oversee Lexus! (RC, NX, maybe GSF).

GS's taillights is way to bland for my taste. +1 for IS taillights.
