I see. Yeah I heard the "less than 4.3L/100km" figure in the launch event too. Very impressive considering that the Prius is rated at 3.9L/100km per the European test cycle. However, you can't just convert L/100km to MPG because the test procedures are vastly different between Europe and the US. Using the Prius' 3.9L/100km and its EPA rating of 50mpg as a basis we can expect the IS300h to get roughly 50mpg x 3.9 / 4.3 = 45mpg from EPA's test cycle, soundly beating the CT200h and the ES300h.

So I would say it would be good if they hit 40 MPG in IS300h... excellent numbers!

They need to upgrade the CT200 to the Camry hybrid system and bump it's power and mpg to make room for the IS300h.
The wording he used when describing the 300h kind of excited me, but I'm sure there's a more boring explanation for what he said. He said that it was powered by a 4 cylinder hybrid drive motor with what I believe he called an "advanced exhaust recirculation" system. Maybe I'm stretching a bit, but could he have been beating around the bush about it being a turbo I4? Early reports had suggested that a turbo I4 was in the works to replace the 250 so a 300h with a turbo 4 cylinder would explain where that rumor came from.

True but that's mostly because the European CT200h comes standard with 15" wheels while the US version gets 17" wheels standard. But yeah even 40mpg would be excellent.

I agree but is there enough room for the Camry/ES350 drive train and batteries?

To be honest, I'm not sure why Lexus has chosen this:
compared to this:
IMO, I personally prefer the headlamp design of the 2IS. It's more consistent in design flow and it works well. As they say, 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it."
But what's done is done. I suppose that the only way the headlamp design flaw of the 3IS could be corrected is if they fix during the MMC facelift (but that will take AT LEAST 3 years after initial launch). Bummer
And it's a shame because for me, the rest of the design is fantastic. Yes everything about the design aspect of this vehicle is something that I highly approve.................except for the front headlamps
I mean: How on earth did that disproportional headlamp design (with such a huge gap) ever approved for production?
