Recently just bought a 2017 lexus is300 awd. There's a very faint whining noise when revving the car and or accelerating. Is this normal for this engine or is there an engine or trans issue. Thanks!

 

I also have a 2017 awd is300, mine has a bit under 86,000 miles. There is no noise of any type, it is totally quiet.

The waterpump likes to fail on these cars, at least in the older models. Maybe the water pump will make a bit of a whining noise? Mine was making more of a scratching noise..

And if it does turn out to be the water pump, thats good, it's a cheap easy job. Water pump sits on top at the front, so easy.
