Default Stereo ID#

Does anyone know if you can replace your stereo with one that doesn't match your current ID that's at the bottom left of the face?
Do they matter if you get the same model year and match the features (nav, non nav) ?

faceplate ID's essentially tell you what you what brand the unit is. ie: denso/panosonic, if or if it has mark levinson pkg/navi/bluetooth ect.

I think if you have a Non ML system, there should be two ID#'s available, basically with or without Navi, as all the other features should be common to both radios.
My 2014 IS250 Non ML system with Navi has an ID# P10435

Not sure what would happen if you mixed and matched them though.

I have the same ID and it's hard to find one online or from junk yards (mine is pretty much dead). I'm wondering if the ML version would work.

In theory, looking at the wiring diagram the ML unit should plug right in...assuming that all ML systems have Navi.
However, keep in mind that you have 8 speakers and the ML system has 15. So where it's trying to send some of the sound, there are just no speakers present.
Also, the micro SD Map card in your vehicle now won't work with the ML unit. You either need the card that came with that unit, or a brand new Map card.

Navi and non-navi is different connection so they are no swap-able

Navi ML and Navi Non-ML has the same connections at the rear and are technically interchangeable. They key difference is the faceplate on these Navi stereos with the ML marking for the Mark Levinson. The Audio signal from Navigation amp is sent via Digital Signal

Does anyone have a list of all the IDs and what model/year/feature set they apply to?

Would a 2016 stereo fit in the slot of a 2014? Have they changed the size of the unit?

I believe 2016 was the start of the bigger nav screen. There is a thread by Edwin where he's doing the swap now. You need quite a few pieces to make it fit and look right.

Thanks for confirming rL.

Does your 2016 have ML navi or non ML navi?
Just wondering if it is non ML Navi, if you have the same ID# that is listed up above in the first few posts (P10435)?

I need a little help with this face id thing for my 2016 is 300 head unit. my face id is p11010 problem is at the moment i cant seem to find any head units online with the exact face id number. I have found some that are close (p11012). My question is there a list of the face id numbers & which models they go with ? I do understand some face id are for different regions, ml, non ml, newer models, etc. What makes me ask if other face id will work us because when i search the forums about it i found a few threads saying that some will work
