2016 IS 350 F AWD and looking to upgrade to cross-drilled and slotted rotors. Yes, they function but more for looks. Yes, I'm aware it might eat into the life of the pad, I'm OK with that. Been around the game for a minute, just not with Lexus.
All that said... read brakeperformance.com reviews and holy crap, were that BAAAAAAAAAD. Then found @R1Concepts but unsure of them as they only sell through Amazon primarily and "Amazon Fit" says they don't fit LOL.
I was just looking at brake kits on Rock Auto today and they have plenty of R1Concepts parts and kits available. They have a kit, all 4 rotors and pads for the 2016 IS250 base (their part number WGUH275005) that is $90 cheaper at Rock Auto than buying from R1Concepts store on Amazon.
Google has reviews from 3 and 4 weeks ago that R1Concepts responded to so I think they are still around, just maybe not around Club Lexus forums anymore?
Might be late but I upgraded to Powerstop rotors and carbon fiber pads. Don't regret since after reading about R1 Rotors rusting or having issues from out of box, decided to get these instead. Price was good and got them off Amazon, I believe you can order from Rock Auto as well. Believe your part numbers will be Z23-1586 (Front) and Z23-1391A (Rear). They actually feel a lot better than the "F" pads with less brake dust.
Hey Josh, I ran StopTech and Centric on my Subarus and the rotors were complete dog ****, the pads were good. Had much better luck with Brembo brake rotors but they rust quickly out here on the rust belt. Have had excellent results with DBA and Akebono on Subarus both wrx and STi. But the StopTech and Centric rotors left a bad impression, are they actually any good for the IS application? I purchase my 2017 IS300 second hand from a Nissan dealer, they replaced rotors and pads, no idea what they installed but I’m dealing with a warped front brake rotor at the moment. I changed the front brake pads about a year ago because whatever was there would howl at times. I went with Akebono front brake pads and no more brake howling. But now I need to replace the front brake rotors and I’m researching in order to get whatever people here say is best. From what I read OEM has the lead. You mention those brands I have shitty history with and state you sell lots of them, but what is the feedback you are getting from your customers in terms of durability and reliability?
I sell a lot of KMC SL chains at my bike shop because people want them but I see a lot them broken. They are **** from my perspective but they look cool and are lightweight so people want them. I’d never run one of them chains on any of my bicycles but I sell lots of them.
