Default Key fob Replacement

Long story short, my brand new 2024 IS500 only came with one key. Dealer apparently misplaced the 2nd key before car was even sold to me and they ordered me a replacement. This was June 27th. I called last week and was told it was still on order. I'm new to Lexus so don't know how long parts like this tend to take. Are 7+ weeks (and counting) considered normal? I don't want to keep nagging them and escalate if this is normal wait time.

That just sounds like a communication issue with your dealer.

Then again, my IS 500 only came with one key fob due to "supply chain issues". I had to wait about 5 months till I got my second key fob. Having said that, it was all very much above board - I even received an apology letter from Lexus USA. This was a common problem with several Lexus models in 2023.

But anyway, if it were me, I'd give them till the end of August to give me an update. 2 months seems like more than enough time.

Oh interesting. Now I'm wondering if they even lost it or only one was delivered from the factory as in your case. Either way, I'll give them until end of month before nagging again.

In the meantime, I just ordered the credit card key from Bell Lexus. I am actually more excited about it than the NFC key card that came with my wife's BMW since you never have to take it out of your wallet as with BMW's. It'll be ironic if it arrives before my 2nd key fob.

Just a heads up on the wallet key. Do not sit on it. I had one for my 2016 GS350. It cracked, even with the small metal key inside. Had to get a smaller wallet that could fit in my front pocket.

Oh great point. I'd be good to skip carrying my wallet all together now that Virginia has released a digital driver license. I'll just carry the credit card key in a MagSafe wallet alongside my phone.

There should have been a message label on the driver's side rear window.

The exact same thing happened to me but I was able to get the new key FOB within 5 weeks. I would just continue to follow up and escalate if they still delaying.
