Kill switch
Dun even bother with battery kill-switch, start-button IGLA, fuel-pump kill-switch, glass/vibration alarm or standard car door alarm.
Dun even bother with OBD2 steel-locker, steering-lock, accelerator-pedal-lock.
Kids these days in all 50 states will just steal flatbed/rollback, hook/chain, integrated & wheel lift tow trucks parked along highway exits at night & tow away your car by winching your wheels & dragging your Lexus up & away in <1min, without any alarm being activated.
It matter not if the wheels & steering are locked or if the engine can't be started.
Matter not if you remove all relay switch & battery.
The same winch/hook will be used to lift your garage door, so it matter not if are you park inside / offstreet.
Most of these tow trucks are hidden away in Public Storage in outskirts of our cities & waiting to be joy-ride by kids high on meth.
They will winch & tow away your IS/LC & leave it somewhere far away for 1-2 weeks to ensure no one is tracking it with GPS devices.
Will be lucky if you find it, if you have a well-hidden Apple Tag or GPS locater.
If not, your beloved vehicle have a new VIN & will be headed for Middle East, Asia, Russia, Eastern Europe, Afrikas & South Americas from Oakland/LA ports by 3rd week

I knew where it was because of the Airtag in the car. It was found abandoned three days later. I got it back and had scrapes and a few other things repaired. It's back on the road. I now have a kill switch and am more diligent about putting the car cover on, so they don't know what vehicle it is. My point is that while there is no guarantee anything will prevent thieves from stealing you car, it's worth doing what you can to prevent them getting it and also getting it back if stolen. It's the same with a home monitored alarm.
We were broken into about 10 years ago with a monitored alarm and it kept the thieves from taking their time in the house. We already had a security door in the back, but not in the front. Now we do and also have steel doors front and back.
Make it as difficult as possible. Or do nothing and hope for the best.
Sorry you had to deal with that. At least you got it back.
This popped into my YouTube recommendations last night. Seems at least with some cars they don't even need to go in though the sunroof anymore,

Trending Topics
Alarm/immobilizer makers & installers prey upon our fear & naivety.
Latest fad sold by em is tilt-sensor to which will be activated when our cars are winched & lifted to steer the car or wheel/tires.
Won't even work.
Never tested.
Dun need to be.
Cos after your car/wheels are stolen, you can't prove the tilt-sensor is not working.
The tilt alarm mfc & installer will just claim your car was not tilted when wheel/car was being stolen.
Nothing you can do.
Car Cover reduce risk.
All alarm eliminate risk & but in Bay Area, up to 36 gangs or syndicated/professional thieves from MI even buy flatbed/rollback, hook/chain, integrated & wheel lift tow trucks for <$9K without papers from eBay, to winch away your car in broad-daylight at malls/cinemas, without any alarm, while all wheels are jammed/locked by immobilizer.
They even print fake repossession letters with your VIN & License Plate, with your name & address, using handheld portable thermal paper printer while at it, if they are stopped by cops/you.
These syndicates pay $ to dealership/DMV/Insurance/Carvana/CarMax/Repair shop employees to gain access to all your record & know where you are at & pose as vehicle repossession company.
Ever wonder why some alarm installers ask for your VIN, name, address when you install additional Author/Viper/Ghost alarm, at your nearest tint/detail/wrap/exhaust/wheel/tire/oil change/car repair shops, who suddenly claim to be 'expert' in car security & alarm installer in recent years?
Lastly if we all have not already realize this....
All the videos on YouTube of car theft always has a 'sponsored' solution, by ppl who recommend remote-kill-switch, GPS tracker, IGLA, KVANT, Author, Glass breakage, wheel vibration, tilt alarm makers & more.
Why they never talk about tow truck car theft operations?
Yes, cos it cannot be defeated, not even if you live in locked parking structure/garage mall, office, apartment & condos.
Casepoint: their fav hunting ground these last 3 years is GOOGLE, Apple & META campus & MTV, Cupertino & Menlo Park condo/apartments around these giants, have highest concentration of Ferrari, Lexus, Porsche, AMG, Lambo & Audi in the world per square mile, and Oakland port is just 35miles away

Replacing the starter relay with a wireless kill switch is an easy way to add some security. There's plug and play relays available that can disable the starter motor, for example:
You can probably program the remote into the car's Homelink buttons so you don't need to carry a separate remote around.
I tried another similar wireless relay, Chadwick M501 A, but it doesn't work well for the starter motor. It still lets the car start. I think it will work better to replace the "IGN1 Main" relay but I don't trust it to not damage the ECU when it cuts power while driving. The Mobilistics relay is better since it's a kill switch for just the starter motor.
