If this is too controversial or redundant, mods please
delete. So I am new to the 21+. I found that the Lexus app had
a tracker that rated driving. I am a DD with the car, so I thought,
fine. My scores were good to excellent. There was an opt out for
the tracking, but I was doing well. I noticed with a Lexus app update,
the tracking disappeared. I then heard on “the news” today that manufacturers
were providing tracking data to insurance companies, causing increased premiums.
Since my car is a DD, I thought that I might save if the data got to the insurance
company :-). BTW, with my old IS, I requested the insurance company device.
I did well, but the savings was inconsequential. Did anyone else notice that the tracking disappeared from the Lexus app?
Thanks, it moved! Also I just noticed the disclaimer about
not sharing the info. Other manufacturers are sharing,
at least as claimed in the news story.
Whether it's gathered by the insurance company or the info is sold to them by the car manufacturers, there is absolutely no data that will lower your insurance.
Everything there is to raise your premium.
