Probably a long shot...but has anybody done this or know a resource that could help? I am totally OCD and the previous owner apparently used a brillo pad to clean the lens so I want to replace it.

Thoughts/help?

 

if you can remove it, try polishing it. machine polisher, 3" pad, fine finishing pad and fine polish.

 

Yeah, I was hoping there would be someone out there that says "watch out for this" or "make sure you do that". I guess Ill continue to research.

 

Replacement takes all of 5 minutes. I have replaced them on both my 14-20 IS cars. Super easy. You remove the black outer trim beel, and the cluster lens is held on with 4 tabs. You don't even need to remove the gauge cluster to change it.

 

In all of my 6 months of ownership, I've not once cleaned that plastic on my IS. My Tacoma scratched when you just looked at it.

If I need to clean it, it's likely just dust, I'll grab some painters tape and just lift off the dust.
