2024 IS350 Intake Upgrade
Actually thank you for this!
It’s first time i’m using oil filter so wasn’t sure how to properly oil it back, glad I found your post. I have aFe Takeda Stage 2 Intake with Oil Filter.
Do you know how often you should clean it and re-oil it?
I put mine in December and drove maybe 1,5k miles on it so far.

I at least remove it every 30 days. I take a old towel on the floor and tap it to see what comes out? If it it's showing more than I like then I do the cleaning on it. I use the K&N cleaning kit that has non harming filter element cleaner and oil. I clean and re-oil every 60 days or so. Does not take but like 5-10 mins to do. If going on a long trip I clean before and after the trip. In the Tree and pollen season I clean about every 30 days. That just me. I also run the Screen linked and that adds even more protection.

I know others who run them and clean them every 3 months or more or so, give or take. It's just a personal pref, but also there are lots of variables based on climate, conditions, miles driven, and many other. But if you think about it? How often does one clean a Stock air filter that get's dirty? I have seen some horrible dirty Intake air filer and Cabin filer in the past on cars. It's kinda like asking how often you should wash and clean your Lexus.
So enjoy your Takeda Cold Air high Flow Intake!
Well I’m extremely happy to hear there are other 60 and plus people here.
I’m an open minded person, a day without learning is a wasted day.
For now, I’m going to try and keep my car stock, it would be the first time I don’t modify something I own. We shall see how long that last.
And thank you for taking the time to type all that and for the warm welcoming.
I have no experience modifying naturally aspirated vehicles, I’ve had tuned supercharged and turbo vehicles the last 25 years, I know my way around the laptop and ECU’s. Logging is routine stuff with forced induction. I did not play in the usdm 2.5L STi engine world, those engines are too fragile. I’m a 2.0L jdm STi engine guy, 82000 rpm nirvana. Almost 20 years in that world, I’ve learned a few tricks along the way. I stayed in the 320-330whp range and had extremely good reliability and results. I still have a tuned Subaru, with a stock air box and filter.
My lowly IS300 has the detuned 2gr engine, I would start with a can tune from RR Racing. I asked them about a dyno tune but they insist it is not necessary. Aftermarket air intake does not seem to do much for performance, not sure the additional maintenance and expense are worth it. They do look good when the hood is up.
Peace!
