Default Turning off PCS?

According to this document:

https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/20...50012-9999.pdf

Techstream can be used to make the pre collision system retain your settings, so that it doesn't turn itself back on every time the car restarts. However this document only lists the off road Toyota models.

The PCS menu looks the same in the IS though. I am wondering if anyone can confirm that this setting can be changed by the dealership so that I could toggle PCS off and have it stay off.

I am not interested in debating or talking about why I want to turn it off. I just do. I'm only interested in whether or not this same process can be used on the IS.

Yeah, they removed the button, because they don't care to let people make their own decisions anymore. But nobody in that thread answered the question about whether or not techstream can disable this, like it can with other vehicles in the lineup.

You could always drive with ESC turned off.

Do you have this option in your car?

That option resets every time you turn the car on. That's the point of the Toyota service document I posted -- in some of their vehicles, Techstream can be used to to change this configuration so that it stays off.

If you turn that off and then turn your car off and back on again, the PCS will have turned itself back on.

OK, I see.
It takes only a few seconds to do this...

As for the TechStresm route, you might have to ask your dealership service department if this is possible. It seems nobody here knows if permanently disabling PCS is possible.

Yup I'll just have to ask the dealership. Annoying that they removed the button under the dash. I know this only takes a few seconds, but I plan to keep my car for a decade, and that time adds up, having to push buttons through a menu each time. Does the menu at least keep the same spot it was in before you turned the car off? i.e. if it is on the PCS part of the menu, and I turn the car off and back on, it will be in the same spot?

Yes, in my experience it remembers where you were in the menu when you turn the car off.

IIRC, it’s a menu option to do that, rather than default to the home screen (but then maybe I’m thinking about my other car?).

I'm talking about the gauge cluster menu. It always goes back to where it was when I turned the car off.
