When there is a will, there is a way. Lots of people are honestly running these things with M12 ball seat lug nuts but I also wonder if a good wheel shop could do something.

Totally get it!

I called the biggest wheel/tire shop in Montreal (I've been dealing with them for 20 years now) and that's the answer that I got. I trust that they know what they're talking about.
All to say, I won't be doing this mod.
I'll look into another wheel, it's a shame this wasn't a direct fit.

Interesting topic. If you compare the M12 and M14 lug nuts, is the diameter and shape of the seat the same? The wheel shouldn’t touch the threaded stud anyway, only the nut. So the diameter of the stud is irrelevant, as long as the nut properly seats on the wheel.

There is a slight seat difference but M12 lugs do secure the wheel

OK I did some testing today. The wheels clear everything fine. You can see the front fork and camber arm nut clearance. Would I like more clearance? Sure. Is it enough and won't be an issue? Absolutely. I also threw Honda M12 ball seat lugnuts on. I drove around and there were no rubbing issues, and torque was maintained although I just did a 5 minute drive. I drew with a Sharpie, the entire ball seat of one of the lugs and compared it to marks on a lug nut that was only used on a Honda wheel previously. The contact line honestly looked very similar and you can see where the sharpie rubbed off. It is reasonable to assume that these will not come loose.

Went on a long drive, no issues with lugnuts loosening, I will keep everyone updated. I honestly might not keep them as I don't like the acceleration difference with 19s lol. But I do really like the look of them.

Those wheels look amazing on our car!
I hope a company makes an M12 version (even replica).

Thanks for posting your findings!

Ok some more testing. I received two different sets of 60 degree conical, to R14 ball seat adaptor rings.

First are the ones from eBay, and are made by Pacific Customs Unlimited:

These were considerably cheaper than the other option I will talk about below, but there is a little bit of get what you pay for. These are stainless steal, and you can see that the R14 ball seat is ok, but not as well machined as the Ti64 adapters. However, the conical lugnuts seat absolutely perfectly into the inside of the adapter so you know the lugnuts are making a full seat contact. The adapters fit fairly well into the holes of the wheel but like I said, the face isn't machined all that great and is almost a two step machining on the face. It really doesn't even look like a true ball seat but for like 32 bucks shipped, it would be an ok option. One thing that isn't super desirable is that the lug sits a few MM recessed in the adapter. This takes away a few threads that the lugnut can grab so keep that in mind.

The next are the Ti64 adapters. These are made of titanium and were maybe 100 bucks shipped so several times more expensive than the cheaper option. The finish and quality on these is freaking incredible. The lugnut seats absolutely perfectly into the adapter and you can see in the pictures, where the lugnut is making contact with the adapter. A much better contact patch than Honda or other R12 ball seat lugnuts. The ball seat machining is a night and day difference. It is perfect, literally. It sits in the lugnut holes of the wheels absolutely perfectly and makes a 100% contact patch with the wheel. You will also notice that the lugnut sits flush with the adapter so more threads for the lugnut to grab.

Here you can see the two adapters side by side. Ti64 adapter on the right side. Notice the difference in ball seat machining:

The Ti64 adapters are really the only way you should mount 21+ wheels on a 14-20 wheel. It is the only solution that allows the lugnut to perfectly seat to the wheel.

The lugnuts with the adapters mounted on the wheel. I didn't even try the Pacific Coast Customs adapters on the car, I am sure they would be fine but with the Ti64 adapters being so perfect, there is no way I am using anything else.

Been driving around since 8am this morning, no issues at all. I brought my torque wrench and have been checking them periodically. No loose lugnuts...

Been watching this thread and another about mounting 21+ wheels onto 2is and 3.1,3.2 is. I’ll be mounting the 21 F sport wheels on my 2g is next week with H&R springs 1.4 F, 1.3 R drop, with 20mm spacers all around. Wish me luck! Will update with pics.

For now I’ll be utilizing open ended steel extended lug nuts ball seat for an M12.

Well here it is. With the current set up with 20mm spacers… massive rubbing on the front fender edge. I immediately ordered 15mm spacers to remedy this as the poke with 20mm was a hair thick causing rubbing under any sort of compression. Drove perfectly smooth otherwise!
