Spark Plugs
I have an IS 300 F sport. Need spark plugs changed. Lexus point of contact told me I need them changed every 60k. Will I be able to go to Autozone and buy spark plugs and have them put it in for cheap? I was quoted $600 which sounds steep.
You can go to autozone or buy the OEM denso ones online for cheaper. Would avoid ebay as many fakes have flooded the market.
As for installation, it's pretty easy even if your not handy.

I was told at the dealer ship, that it must be done at the dealer ship. Is this true. Or did they just say that to get my money? I wanted to buy the spark plugs at autozone and take them to Lexus, but Lexus forbid that.
You can have any shop do the work. I don't know what the dealership is on about. Having the dealership do the work would be a fine idea, but probably not worth the money.
Personally I would just order the OEM Denso plugs and have the work done somewhere else.

You can do it for much cheaper and it's not hard. You can order a set off eBay which will be much cheaper than the store or dealership. Then get some tools for the change (there are a lot of guides on how to do this) and be done with your day in about 30 minutes.
It's not a difficult job, but the reason the dealer wont install your parts is simple. If you buy the parts from them, they come with a warranty, as well as their labor is warrantied. If you bring your parts, neither one of those will come with a warranty, and if there's ever an issue, you'll try to blame the dealer, and its just a headache they're probably trying to avoid. Cant blame em.
The parts are relatively inexpensive, and if you've ever turned a wrench before, you shouldn't have an issue.
