The 3IS seems to come with some spring system for the tailgate which is not as well refined as having gas struts. A 3IS owner wanted to retrofit power electric tailgate on his 3IS. So I’ve completed the project and the results are amazing and so thought I’d share a video demo showing the finished result. All the buttons work. The trunk is operated from either the interior button, the key button or the button on the trunk. At a later stage, I will be adding the kick sensor to it like I did on my 2IS as the customer did not order the universal kick sensor. Waiting for that to arrive.

Comes with Chinese instructions which were as always with most Chinese products absolute piece of junk lol. It has illustration pictures that were so small you cannot make heads or tails of it. The wires are pretty much self explanatory it all has colour coded connectors that connect to the supplied electric tailgate ecu. The only parts that hooks up to the original car wires is a connection that needs to go to the trunk door actuator lock. It comes with a adaptor where you disconnect the trunk actuator connection then plug in their connector and then plug the original car one to the other end. The only thing is the switch on the tailgate you have to tap into the switch button so that the interior switch and trunk switch continues to work. Everything works just like it should. If I press the trunk button it beeps and starts to open. If I press the button inside the car same thing happens. If I long press fob trunk button it does the same open and close function. And you have the additional closing button inside the trunk. I will add the universal kick sensor for the customer at a later stage as it’s on order
