Default Transmission Mount

Getting minor vibrations inside the car that happen the car is at idle and in gear. Disappears when in neutral/park so I'm narrowing it down to transmission mount. That being said, I don't see any info on trans mount replacement on our cars. I'm assuming I can jack up/support trans and loosen the mount from the bottom and swap it out with a new one? If anyone has any info on doing the job feel free to comment.

Depends on what you consider transmission mount. If the one by the left wheel then yes support the engine/transmission swap out mount. The studs are pretty long that go into the subframe can be a challenge to get enough separation. Can tell easily enough if the mount is toast, have someone put the car in and out of gear as you watch the engine/trans move (do this safely!).

As far as I can see from the diagrams it shows two front ones driver and passenger side that are more cylindrical shaped while the rear one is more rectangular/trapezoid shaped. Haven't visually checked to see what's all in the way of removing that rear one. As long as I don't have to drop the sub frame or something I feel like it's doable a

t home.

How bad is the vibration? I have the same issue (idle in gear), but haven't looked into the mounts too much. It would explain some other issues I have with the transmission as well (jerks)

There are some videos on YT on changing out the trans mount for several Lexus models with similar trans mount. Doesn't appear to be too difficult.

Honestly its not that bad yet, other than slight vibrations steering/dash at idle and I do have some slight jerking when trans is shifting gears specially if I'm in "manual" mode but I tend to be proactive about an issue before it gets worse with my cars.

The jerking could be normal depending on what you mean by "jerking". There are plenty of people taking about brand-new cars jerking. Does the jerking persist after the car is fully warmed (say, after 10-15 minutes of driving)?

Worth mentioning even my 2800-mile IS 500 exhibits minor vibrations when in D through the gear selector and the seat of my pants. Some vibration is normal, as long as it isn't excessive.

The jerking and vibrations weren't present when I first got the car 3 years ago with 22k miles. I'm now at 87K and putting a lot city/Highway driving and I do drive aggressively. I do expect bushings to start wearing specially with the rough roads of Chicagoland.

What is your idling RPM? My idling RPM was around 600.
I also started collecting the 3 mounts (rear mount and 2 engine mounts) to help with the vibration but decided to clean my throttle body first. Cleaning it ever so slightly increased the idling RPM and alleviated some of the vibration.

The rear mount is easy enough to do so I'll do that sooner than later; the 2 front mounts, not sure when depending on how the rear mount solves the vibration.
