Default Disable Hood Open Sensor

Good day CL Team,

I got in a minor fender bender this evening. Seems to be mostly cosmetic damage, but the hood is slightly tweaked. Because of this, the hood won't latch down completely. It latches enough to catch so it won't fly up but not enough to engage the hood sensor. Therefore, I am getting the Open Hood warning on my dash. Honestly I will probably wait a bit to repair everything since the car seems to run fine. Is there any way to disable this hood sensor so I am no longer getting the warning on my dash? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

If you pull apart the hood latch, and unplug the wiring running in to it, and then jump that connector to short it, that should stop the hood warning notice.

Good advise! Or otherwise tape it up so it is always pushed down. Whatever works for you.

Thanks gentlemen. I'll have to look up a diagram of the latch, because it's currently covered and I have no way to see the under/backside of it without taking things apart. If it's a mechanical switch, then I'll probably opt to tape it since wires/electronics and myself don't mix very well, haha. I'll see if I can find a diagram later tonight to confirm what needs to be taped.

Can you elaborate a little more when you say 'it is always pushed down'?

I don't see a mechanical feature on the hood latch for the sensor. But maybe I just need to take everything apart...

I had trouble finding a diagram that was helpful. The best I could find was this one, which doesn't provide a lot of detail.
