Hey guys.I want an opinion about LSD.The promblem with my supercharger now is that the car spins a lot the first and second gear and I want to know if an LSD diff will help.I saw Kaaz LSD diff.Does anyone know about it?I don’t want to change gearing to shorter because my problem is only at first and second gear because of the spinning.

So I'm pretty sure I marked myself down in the other thread as being in the "yes, do the LSD thing" camp. Of everything I've done to the car, powering both rear wheels has changed the dynamics of the car the most. Seeing as you already have the numerically lowest ratio I've seen in this carrier, you'll likely want to re-use it.

I prefer junkyard solutions, personally, so buying a Y38 or Y58 and swapping ring/pinions would be the way I'd first attempt, in your position. If money is less of an issue, there's OBX, Kaaz, Cusco, Tomei, Quaife, OS Superlock...and that's just on the fist page of results. The fact that we share carriers with the 86 platform gives us all of those options, and also gives us tons of forums with tutorials on how to swap the ring over.

That is my assumption. The only big problem that I can foresee is potentially the thickness of the ring being different between open vs torsen diffs...I haven't seen any of the 1IS guys swap rings from open to torsen, but I also didn't search that hard.

 

I was just emailing a guy who is selling a GT86 LSD and he told me that the 4.1 didnt seem much different from the 3.58 he had.He told me that he could still drive at 160km with 3-3500RPM .He is selling the diff for 700euros

 

0.3:1 isn't a huge deal until end game 1/10th seconds. Before you open it, I'd toss it in with some poly mounts and fresh oil. See what you think about the ratio change. It might be fine.

The other bolt in options all involve pulling your ring carrier and putting an LSD in there. All but the Torsen style require maintenance and new clutch discs depending on how they're used. Its not for everyone pulling them out every 3 years to install new steel and friction discs.

My 9.0" Ford Trak-lok needed new friction every 20,000 mi. But I was hard on it too!
