Default 2nd Cat Delete - CA Smog

I'm in a bit of a predicament and hoping for some insight...

2012 IS350 with Invidia Mid-Pipe Cat delete - Shop I went to said they would hold OEM part, but when I went back to get it, they had gotten rid of it (I should of never left it obviously)

I passed smog visual once 2 years ago but did not go well, guy was pissed and threw a fit, yelling, making phone calls, but thankfully passed me. I am due for smog now and really am tired of the anxiety knowing I'll have to go through that again, etc. I doubt he will pass me a 2nd time. Seriously considering purchasing OEM mid-pipe for about $1200 from Lexus Dealership....

Dose anyone know a different solution if I really don't want to keep dealing with this every 2 years? I am not ***** deep into the forums, so I am unsure of where I could find a used OEM mid-pipe besides clublexus.com which I am having no success locating a used one. Do I have any other options here!? Any insight is greatly appreciated...Live in the OC

Try here for some used ones. Not sure where in California you are, but usually here in SoCal, LKQ pick a parts have several ISX50s on their lot.
Check inventory before going. Make sure the in stock date isn't too old. You'll find them mostly untouched.

Thanks for getting back to me, that’s a solid lead. I am in Orange County, CA. I see that LKQ has some IS350’s in stock. I wish I had some experience at a pick n pull before trying to tackle this job, you can just show up with a jack, jack stands, tools etc. and can bank on getting underneath the vehicle to remove? I guess it’s really only a few bolts…

i didn't think the stock mid pipe had a cat in it, only a resonator! if that's the case then anything after the cat shouldn't matter, and since it sounds like your car passed smog with it on in the past then it's burning clean! some smog guys are simply scared when they see a modified car. if they truly know their stuff, they would understand what can and cannot be used.

find another smog guy willing to smog you with it on (and i'm not talking about slipping him a benjamin or two)!

here is my recommendation: http://mm-smog.com/ in mission viejo! give sean a call and see if he is even willing to smog it for you with your mods on, or bring it over and he will assess on the spot. sean is a stand up guy!

Nope. Car has 4 cats. L & R in the headers, 2 in middle (mid-pipe) that go into the Y, then the resonator where it flanges for axle back section.

interesting! i haven't been under the rear of my 250 for awhile now to notice - albeit i have a stock exhaust. that means there should be downstream sensors located after the mid-pipe cats.

you will not be able to pass the visual with the invidia pipe unfortunately.

Actaully they don't monitor the secondary cats. I thought it odd to but there is nothing there sensor wise.

Show up the your preferred location dressed in old clothes and hand tools. All the vehicles are already on top of some type of jack stands. Bring Cash, entrance is $3.00
You can pay for the part you removed with card or cash.

I would recommend to search any nearby vehicles for their trunks floor mat/carpet, something to lay down on while you're removing the part you need underneath the vehicle.

If you have a cordless impact gun, it'll make your job a lot easier.
