IS - 2nd Gen (2006-2013) Transfer Case
In an old thread on this forum it's said that IS250 transfer case is part of the transmission; however, I was watching someone who claims to be Toyota master mechanic where he said Toyota and Lexus AWD cars have separate transfer case while the front differential is integrated into the tranny and we only need to drain the tranny fluid and refill with ATF, but the transfer case uses the same gear oil as the one used for the rear differential.
My question is, which is correct, separate transfer case or not?
Thank you

Thanks MikeFig82 for your reply. So now let me write what I understood, in the front of the AWD model there's transmission + transfer case (both share the ATF) and front differential and this needs gear oil, is that correct?
Thanks again.

Correct: Front diff needs its own gear oil.
I figured this is the best method. It's a tedious job, but it can be done.
