I've had that issue on both mirrors and used the exact video that MikeFig82 posted with success. I struggled using just weight alone to press down with the pipe wrench. What worked for me was to just line up the pipe wrench on the clip and hitting it hard with the rubber mallet. After the clip was secure, I used a worm gear hose clamp to prevent the clip from popping out again.

I have completely the opposite problem, lol.
My passenger side mirror, seems to be stuck, can't be moved in either direction.
I guess this still has something to do with this mechanism?

Once I get the clip down far enough, I'm thinking of drilling a hole into the cylinder and putting a roll-pin. Sometimes engineers don't engineer things correctly :-)

After so many times I fixed it. The washer didn't have anymore material to bite into. I eventually just tapped 2 6-32 screws in to the cylinder. Also I just went through my camera roll, and I must of deleted the pictures to show.

Roll pins would be good too.

This can all be prevented if you don't do automatic car washes. That's how mine got trashed in the first place. It doesn't take much force to knock it out of place.

Mother Fornicating Defecation Ballz!!!!

Fixed the nut thing, using an O2 socket and drilled 2 tiny holes and ran galv wire through the holes and busted the mirror as I was trying to snap the mirror back in place !!!!!

The very LAST step
