Default It started with a leak

Hello guys, first I'd like to apologize for only showing up when I have a crazy issue.

My 08 is250 during Florida's last tropical storm developed a leak somewhere that caused the floor mat on the driver side to get wet and mildew (at the time I thought I had left the door slightly ajar) fast forward to yesterday no tropical storm but super heavy downpour around 10pm get in the car this morning floor mat is soaked again the mildew smell I fought to clear is back etc. New twist though. All the warning lights on the dash flash, the temp gauge doesn't move, can't turn pwr or snow off or on, the display doesn't read any of the information no p/s, abs, afs

Has anyone ran into this before? I cannot find anything wet around the fuse panel on the driver side or up under the dash. I also see the water but cannot find a good location for it to come in (sunroof drains are clear) so I'm leaning toward resealing/replacing the windshield. Ive unhooked the battery at present to see if I get my dash back.

Any help will be appreciated and sorry the story is so long.

Perhaps remove the cowl and look for a blockage or something causing the leak in through the firewall.

You can always stick your head under there while having someone spray a garden hose against the car (windshield/top areas) while looking for the leak.

Good luck!

How did you test to sun roof drains?

Turn the AC on and make sure it puddles under the car. If blocked it will do the same thing soaking the carpets and electrics.

Grab like three or four 16 Oz bags of rechargeable desiccant throw them in the car and they can absorb some of that moisture.

Last little bit, inspect the right side too... IIRC there are electronics over there as well as a some fuses.

Pulled the car into the garage and sprayed around the sunroom to check it for leaks, and also dumped a measuring cup full of water down the drain hole.

The car was dead this morning and I had to jump start it, the floor board is soaked but the computer and fuses appear dry and none of the fuses were blown. So now I'm at a loss on what killed everything (ac also started acting up) now there's no gear selection light on the dash.
Looks like there are a couple grounds under the carpet in the wet area, I'm hopeful they are the culprits causing some sort of short...

I do believe I found the intrusion point where the roof meets the windshield so at least there is some good news

Hey, I know this is old, but did you ever figure out the origin of the leak? I've got the same issue on my ISF after a hand car wash. Car will start and immediately die after. I tested the sunroof, and it drains out near the wheel as quickly as I pour, and it was dry in the cabin, so I don't think it's the sunroof.

Can you post pictures of your trunk area? Want to see if there are any issues with the seams/seam sealer.

Me or the OP? My trunk is dry, I've seen some water drops near the footwell panels on the left near where the door sills are.
