Default Cv axle

I need Cv axle after 197000 miles of driving. What is the best place to buy solid axle that will last 50000 plus. I’ve heard Auto zone’s last one year. What is your experience?

Not a fan of Cardone, in general I think most aftermarket axles are okay to terrible. Can the originals be saved by replacing the boots or are they gone mechanically.

When I did my CV axles I found some used ones on ebay that had 65k miles on them. I paid ~$70 each shipped to my door. They were rusty and didn't look great so I took a Brillo pad to them and repainted matte black. 50k miles later and they are still working great. As an alternative, for $200 there is a person in Utah who will refurbish them (I couldn't find anyone local that would do them because of the design). I would definitely stay with OEM even with the defective design. What I mean by the defective design is that the CV axle housing consists of a machined metal end piece with a thin pressed on cap that the axle boot attaches to. It's this thin pressed on cover that slowly becomes loose over time from the machined end piece. The grease leaks out from there and not the boot.
