Are you scheduling anything to get it checked out?

Definitely, probably end of next week. I have a pretty busy schedule this week and most of next week, and since I can unlock it manually I can hold off for now. I've already discussed it with my mechanic

Dropped off my car today to finally address this issue. I'll post what the issue turns out to be once its found and fixed. It's been pretty annoying carrying a plastic spoon in my car to unlock the transmission LOL

The issue is the Shift Interlock Solenoid Part number 85903-30080. The local dealership is selling it for $400 plus & tax. Bought it from Discount Parts Monster, no tax with a 15% off coupon for $297. Once I receive it I'll have it replaced

I'm glad your mechanic has identified the issue and you're getting it fixed. At this point I can now say, on the flip side, if anyone tried to steal your car there's no way they'll be able to shift from P to D to drive away.

Not unless they find the plastic spoon stored in the door compartment to unlock it LOL!

Shift Interlock Solenoid coming in today, will install it tomorrow. Now I can finally hopefully get rid of this fricken plastic spoon that's been my companion for the last month. I'll miss you plastic spoon...

Unfortunately you have to pull the whole shifter column out. I was going to do it myself but I don't have the time right now (work, my next few weekends are booked up thanks to the wife), so I dropped it off to my mechanic. He's charging me $150 for the whole thing so I'm letting him do it

Shift Interlock Solenoid has been replaced, and the problem is fixed, I am able to shift out of Park. I can now officially retire the plastic spoon once and for all

Put that spoon on a necklace and wear it in remembrance or maybe dangle it from the rearview mirror. ROFL!
