Default Transmission issue

Hey guys,

Having issues with my 2007 lexus is350 with 310000 on it now.

noticed the odd time when I'm on the highway the car won't shift from 4th to 5th and 6th gear. Seems to correct the problem on its own.

However two days ago it did the same thing however it is now doing it all the time and I pulled codes P0983 shift solenoid D control circuit high and P0984 transmission component slipping.

I don't see any transmission leaks and I got a quote from a parts store that says the shift solenoid are 520 each.

Transmisson fluid was replaced 2 year ago

Any suggestions or thoughts?

Lifetime fluid is not lifetime, should be drained and filled regularly. Looks like at 300k the transmission is done, I'm surprised it lasted that long!
You could probably change the solenoids and do drain and refills. But may be near the end of its life. When I had the component slipping code, my fluid was low and I replaced the gasket/filter and refilled. The error code never came back.

I cleared the codes and the component slipping hasn't come back but I haven't driven it far.

Does anyone know where I can purchase the solenoids cheap. It appears it's 525 per solenoid here. And how many are there 5?

The code will come back, I would drain, drop the transmission pan, change the gasket, filter and refill the fluid. Its pretty easy to do.

Here's what I used. No leaks so far.

Amazon Amazon

Maxlife ATF, works great and super cheap. Very Good experiences with this fluid.

I don't tbink changing the fluid and filter is going to resolve the problem.

Does anyone know where I can get a remanufactured valve body. Or shift solenoids cheap?

Just an update if anyone wondering.

Drained the fluid and dropped the pan, fluid is dirty but not horrible and no metal in the pan.
Tested all solenoids and determined solenoid s4 was bad. Picked a new solenoid up in mississauga for 280. The whole job cost me 360 to do it myself with new fluid, filter and gasket.

don't trust shops. If I took this to a shop I was looking at thousands.

Rockauto seems to have solenoids that are way cheaper. It would be good to find out who the OEM was and see if you can’t find the exact same part from a supplier other than Lexus and see if it’s cheaper.

Transmission in kilometers.

To check the oms u take the solenoid out. There only held in by a bolt. Put the reader on it and it should read between 10-15oms I believe. You can find the chart online for the exact reading. S4 was reading all over the place and extremely high thats how I knew it was bad.

FYI rock auto is the first place I went. I ordered it only to have them tell me it's not actually in stock. I got it from king o matic in mississauga. 280 vs 200 from rock auto and I had it that day.

To do it myself it cost me 360. I used the factory fluid from Toyota it 8.99 a quart

I also had a hard time finding the filter kit. The is250 kit works and is easier to find. Cost be 40 bucks with the rubber gasket
