Default PCV valve help

I couldn't find anything specific on what it takes to replace the pcv valve on the 350. I've got about 112k miles on mine and I've noticed a little bit of oil consumption when I previously have not had any before. I figure replacing the pcv valve would be a cheap thing to do to help and with that many miles it wouldn't hurt to replace it anyway and future proof it. Has anyone replaced their pcv valve before? It's not hard to get to, but it does seem a bit tight to get a wrench in there. Does anyone have any tips on removing it?

Although changing your PCV valve should be done as part of routine maintenance (as waste gasses will eventually gum it up), I doubt it will solve your issue if you have excessive oil consumption, as it may be from a leak. That is unless the PCV valve is the source of the leak!

The oil consumption is very minor, about 1/2 quart over 5000 miles. I just know that I don't have any external leaks. I checked it myself about 2000 miles ago when I had the oil changed. I've noticed some oil residue around the pcv valve hose and on the other vent tube going to the intake. I've it doesn't fix the consumption then at least it was about $10 out of pocket and I've ruled that out. I know it hasn't been changed yet, so it's not a bad idea to do it anyway. The only reason I'm wanting to address it is because I check my oil and I noticed that the oil level was getting lower and it previously did not consume oil at all. I guess I should consider myself lucky since it has over 100k and hardly consumes oil at all.

Thanks MikeFig82. That is exactly what I was looking for. I'll just need to pick up some crows feet and it should be a simple swap.

Since you are seeing residue around the valve hose, that may be your source. I have two other cars over 100K (2006 Toyota Camry SE 3.3L V6 @155K and a 2013 Toyota Sienna just hitting near 140K) and knock on wood, none of them consume oil or leak. The Camry does seep some power steering fluid, but it's so minor it's cheaper to top it off every 6 months (4 years and I still have about one quarter left in the quart bottle of PS fluid)

Speddon, video tutorial on replacing PCV valve (part # 2204-31050) located here, in addition to what MikeFig82 had posted in reply #2 (CL members Soledad, wopr & WhatYaGot tutorials).
