I sold my 2IS a few months ago but I ran Into a sticky dash fix. If I had known this I would've probably kept the car I just couldn't stand the dashboard.
Anyways it's sticky dash fix . Com
I ran into a video on YouTube.
https://youtu.be/VHL0RQXSo8w
That was the first version. Now the second version is out that owners are saying is way better. Good luck guys if anyone tries it out let us know how it goes. $50 is Def worth a try in my book. And I wish I had known this when I had the car
That looks interesting. Thanks for sharing. There is a comment from the maker who says they fixed a lot of the issues the youtube video mentioned and made it easier to apply.
My dash has actually kinda stopped getting worst for some reason. It was melty and shiny for a day and then it just stopped ...
I found a local automotive upholstery shop and they ordered the Coverlay dash cover for me and will be also installing it as I want it done by a professional. They will also be covering the top portion of all 4 doors panels with a "pleather" material to closely match the real leather on the interior. I love my 2006 Lexus IS350 and I'm hoping this turns out great is I plan on keeping her forever!.....the dash cover should be arriving soon and I'll keep you posted! My 2006 IS350 with only 95,000 miles.....and tons of upgrades/mods
I used sticky dash fix on my lexus is250 2008 dash
My dash got sticky so I went on to YouTube to see what I can do I found sticky -.com and I received these sticky dash kit followed the steps to the video and it's been a week now and my dashboard is not sticky anymore perfect condition brand new feels great i recommend it worth the cost and time
That looks horrendous. Personally, if I'm going to put in the time to fix something, it's got to look fixed, otherwise, why even try? For a couple of hundred bucks and a few hours, I'd rather just buy a new dash when the time comes and swap it out.
My door panels get soft in the heat but then seem to go back to normal. The material is failing, specifically around the door pulls, but it doesn't look bad yet. I'm just careful when touching. Would this work to prevent the issue from getting worse? I'm beyond the extended warranty period. I've been using lexol vinylex and that seems to help. A more permanent fix would be great.

The only permanent fix is replacing them. These are band-aid fixes that don't necessarily correct the problem, like giving someone pain killers for a broken arm helps but doesn't solve the issue.

I priced it out at one point and it would have been over $4k for all new parts... Used panels are a crap shoot. This stuff is $40. I wouldn't need to fill in any chips... the drivers side door pull is somewhat smooth now but I wouldn't worry about trying to retexture. I would just hate to use this stuff and make it look worse.
I am curious to know how much you paid when it was all said and done? If I could find someone locally to do it the right way, that might be the way to go. My nearest Lexus dealer is 2 hours away and I am out of the warranty period on my 350 so I imagine the new panels are going to be really expensive from the dealer!

well, my 2006 IS350 is still at the upholstery shop waiting to get the "coverlay" dash cover installed.....when I stopped in late last week they were working on covering the upper door panels with "pleather"......they were having a hard time getting the material to stick to the deteriorated door panel surface. But I'll be honest, it was looking pretty damn good and they assured me that they found an adhesive that will make it stick...(After much prep work/sanding/grinding/filling/etc). Here's what the work order says and the cost 1.) Reupholster sticky portion of four (4) door panels with new matching material (4 x $300 = $1,200). 2.) Replace dash cover sticky portion with Coverlay made of a durable black plastic ($525)......so the total cost will be $1,725......and hopefully it will turn out looking awesome and "almost" factory......hoping it will be ready very soon and I can post after photos........

If you find out what adhesive they used, let us know.
