Hey fam I was working and I realize that some how my key fob fell off... don’t know how but the Mechanic key part is still on the key chain. So I do know about programming the ecu with the paper clip. So my question is can I get a used key fob and just swap out the key part and reprogram it to the ecu?

 

Yes, make sure the FCC ID matches the old one and you should be fine. I never unlocked car with key to know that alarm is OK, but usually they are. You just can't start it....

you have to make sure the used key is virginized. It has to be erased prior to programming to another car. I think they make aftermarket now too.
