Default 2006 vs 2010 reverse camera

I know the design of the navigation system slightly changed from 2006 to 2010. Looking at the part number of the reverse camera for both of these years. The 2006 model seems to have part number 86790-53010 whereas the newer model seems to be 86790-53011. Does anyone know what the difference is? Will the newer one work on the 2006 navigation system? The camera quality on my 2006 just seems to be very faded when I compare to a friend's 2011 camera which seems really sharp picture. I don't remember my camera always being this bad. I think maybe over the years maybe the lens has gone bad. But now that I see the camera on another car it's a huge difference in quality

86790-53010 and 86790-53011 are interchangeable. I'm not aware of any major functional difference between the two. They more or less look identical. 86790-53011 replaces 86790-53010 as the service part for a 2006 IS.

Thank you. Why does the newer IS250 on my friends car have a much sharper picture? Could the navigation screen be have a higher resolution or could it be that my camera lens has just got bad over the years. Because if I remember correctly, the picture used to look really good.

Most likely an issue with the camera itself (electronically or physically with the lens or sensor), the navigation unit itself (electronically), the wiring or connectors between them (damaged, worn connectors, corrosion), or your memory of how good it used to be, haha.

You can change some settings to the screen. By pushing the display button on the left side. Doesn’t make much of a difference IMO but maybe this might help making it clearer

^^^ Interesting, I don't think my '08 has color or tone adjustments as yours shows.

It has to, you should get the options by pressing display button. One option is screen off and there is another to adjust screen settings like above. But makes no difference to camera quality

Yeah, you're right. I looked earlier today when I was in reverse; I guess I never thought to adjust the display settings when in reverse...

Does anyone know how easy it is to remove the camera? I know how to remove the carpet lining which gives access to the tail lights. Is it removed from there or does the out section of the trunk need to be removed too? Just thinking if it's a easy removal then I can do a quick swap test with my friends camera
