Default Diy dashboard fix

TLDR: DIY DASHBOARD FIX?

MY dash isnt actually sticky.(2008 is350) The problem is the dash is chipped around my display as I installed an aftermarket Andriod head unit. I was thinking about leather vinyl wrapping the dash or maybe create a perfect border around the head unit with some leather to tape cover up the chips.

Anyone done some DIY stuff at home?

Look closely around the airvent

That is one reason why I have been reluctant to install an aftermarket head unit. I just had a new dashboard installed by Lexus (for the sticky dash issue) and don't want to ruin it. I'm also worried about the fitment of an aftermarket unit, which could mess up the dash

When the dealer did my airbag recall they chipped around the vents and in the middle. They had someone repair it. Not DIY but must of been cheaper than a new dash. You can see the repair in the middle but it’s still better then having pieces of the dash missing.

When the dealer changed my dash, they did an excellent job. They replaced all the vents, infotainment system etc very neatly. Everything looks brand new. I would have made them change the dash if they damaged it

Whoever cut those "lines" must have been having a seizure that day.I would have camped out in the service department lobby until they replaced the whole dash

Search, OEM dash is $380 MSRP. Cheaper if you have access to a wholesale account.

You were still able to get a dash recall on your 2010? Dash alone or door panels as well? In December of last year, I bought a 2013 IS250 with 39K miles and it's in great condition but I am now the 3rd owner. I wonder if Lexus will grant me the recall.

I did the same when fixing my digitizer. I used the black sugru. It was cheap not perfect but if done right you can't tell unless I point it out and tell people

The will do dash and doors if signs of melting are appearing. If its not bad yet, they won't do it now, but you have til 2023 since its up to 10 years for in service date of the car.

My car went from 100% to zero on the dash melt like over a few months. Doors slowly happened especially the driver (90% used vs. other doors).

Yes, correct. For the 2010 IS models I believe it ends this year. I contacted Lexus support to confirm that my car was included, they referred me to the nearest Lexus dealer in my area (Lexus of Stevens Creek), who then setup an appointment for me to come in. They gave me a loaner while they evaluated the car. This was last Friday. Saturday they called me and told me the dash was replaced and I picked up my car.

For my car, only the dash was affected on the drivers side, the trim was all fine. Now I have a brand spanking new dash! If your IS is affected than for sure it is covered

I'm in South Florida so my closest dealer is JM Lexus in Coconut Creek. What do I do? Just call the service center and introduce myself?
