I recently got me a 2006 IS350 off a trade. Its been good to me for the last few months, even with 240k miles on it. Driven it everywhere and I trust it with my life.
Let me start by saying I've lightly scoured the forums for my problem and either missed it or didnt see anything relatable.
Last week it cut power when I full throttled at around 80mph and 2-2.5k rpm. The engine went to idle, if i gave it gas, it slowed down faster than if i let it coast. Pulled over, restarted, everything was fine and kept going. Down the ways it did it again but immediately gave me power again.
It then did it today, I went to have some fun with a mustang and it cut power around 80 again when i gave it full throttle, almost pulled over and then it gave power back again.
Its not just when i hit 80, I've slowly cruised over 80 to 100 just fine. It seems to just be when i mash the gas.
It doesnt throw any codes, no lights flash, I already have traction control turned off and a cel for an O2 sensor. Every time i try to make it do it on my own terms to get a code, it doesnt do it. So sometimes it will cut power on full throttle, sometimes it wont. What do i do here?
Could be quite a few things. Check your MAF readings, could be fuel delivery issues (failing/dirty injectors, fuel pump not keeping up at high power due to filtering issues/going bad, fuel rail losing pressure), vacuum issues, etc. You are pretty high mileage, so it's always a possibility one or two of these things are the issue. Get an OBD reader and watch what happens. Make sure all recalls/warranty enhancements have been done (there have been 2-3 for the fuel pressure sensor and the fuel rail dampeners).
Question; does it shake when idling or idle smooth. Suspect fuel starvation or water in fuel.
It shakes very rarely when idling. Itll kinda shake for a second then go away. Normally it doesnt do it unless im idling for a long period of time (more than 45 minutes at least).
I'd start w fuel cleaner. Techron by Chevron a couple tanks of the full size bottle or another brand meant for getting water out. You fuel at the same pump always?
If so ask them if they've had any complaints.
Also for kicks I'd clean the MAF with the appropriate cleaner see if that helps the idle.
I fill up at 3 locations. One by work and home which are popular Exxons, and one I go to every day for drinks before work which is a Weigels. Never had any trouble out of them.
Getting the front end looked at for some unrelated issues tomorrow so I'll pick up some treatment then and might pick up a new air filter while i'm at it and clean the maf.

Anything specific i should watch for on the readings? I tried to make it cut power tonight on one good baby pull, it wouldnt do it and I didnt want to push my luck. I'm gunna get some fuel cleaner tomorrow and run that through a couple tanks like the other gentleman said
For a high mileage IS350, it honestly holds itself together pretty well. cosmetically she looks like Sloth from the Goonies but we'll get over that wall eventually.
