Default Switching instrument cluster

I have an 2006 is350 If i purchase an instrument cluster from a 2011 IS350. can i switch it with mine without modifying it? and will the mileage on the new cluster stay the same as what my car already has? or will it show the mileage from the other car?

I can answer the question about the mileage; it will stay with the cluster (aka, the 2011 model 2IS),

I would assume the connections for both the clusters would be the same, but I have no experience with this. So I'll let someone else confirm that.

Damn that’s what I did not want to hear! I know if the mileage are not the same as whats actually on the car, even if I put it on record and still have the count of the original miles, it’ll devalue the car and buyers won’t want that. Even though I have no plans on ever selling my car.

I asked in another forum post about just swapping the dial silver bezels. Apparently you can just swap the face to update the look to the newer bezel.

Let me see if I can find my post on it.

The reason I was asking is because the needles on my speedometer and tachometer went out. And i was wondering if I could just buy a used cluster and swap them out. And nothing else will change.

Very interesting thread actually. Gave me an idea. Maybe I could buy the other cluster and open up the lens cover. And remove the needles and put them inside of mine. So I wouldn’t deal with the odometer issue.

Now I’ll have to find a thread showing how to remove them. But I’m sure it wouldn’t be too hard to find that

I haven't seen anyone admit to wrecking the needle drive assembly but that is where the risk is. Needle extraction as they are pushed on pretty solidly.

Point: if you are willing to go this far, just hop on digikey.com and get some new LEDs. Replace them yourself make em.blue like the F.

I thought it would be easier to put in a whole cluster that is used but I don’t want get into having to worry about fixing the odometer reading. So I might just fix the needles

Hello,
I am having the same problem with my 2007 Lexus IS350 tach and MPH needles going out. Is there a service that will replace the needles? I was about to change out the cluster with one on eBay but I don’t want it to change the odometer miles. My IS is pretty low in miles for its age.
