Default What material is the steering wheel made from

Sorry this might seem like a strange question, but does anyone know what the actual material under the leather is that the IS250 steering wheel is made from? I'm planning to retrim the steering wheel and considering creating a recessed emblem section at the bottom for a F emblem.

Angry

I don't know what the multi layer fake leather rubber crap is but my F-Sport wheel is peeling this thin black coating off and looks like hell compared to how it could look. Outer shiny black rubber stuff, inner dull black simulated leather/rubber. Neither hold up much to abrasion and no clue what they are.

On another note; 3rd summer owning this car and as the summer temps peak you end ups washing the windows inside monthly from the interior outgassing putting a film on everything.

So for anyone pre-2011 thinking they solved the #melting #sticky dash, its a good chance they didn't if the materials used out-gas like they do as that's a sign the materials are breaking down.

I imagine it's a high density foam outer, then a steel inner.

My wheel is starting to show wear at the top. Between 11 & 12. Position. I find myself staring to hold the wheel lower now.
