Default TPMS Sensors

Tried looking around but couldn't find anything so I'm posting here. Are there specific TPMS sensors my 2006 Is250 requires to communicate to the ECU? Or can I just purchase universal sensors? Which hz is required to talk to our cars?

I have aftermarket wheels and am planning to make a TPMS canist/pipe bomb.

You can buy aftermarket sensors. I don't believe that there is a universal sensor because of the different radio frequencies. I don't know what the frequency is for the IS, but if you get one that says it is for your car, you will be OK.

Hopefully you are aware that the sensor has to be "registered" to the car's computer in order for the car to recognize it. Also, many sensors need a mounting kit consisting of various things like threaded collars. Read the product info carefully to see if it is included or is purchased separately.

It is also possible that a certain sensor may not fit your rims.

Not worried about the fitment to the wheels as they'll be going in the TPMS pipebomb. More concerned with purchasing the right ones that can communicate to the car.

I have techstream vci cable so I'll be doing the TPMS programming myself.

These are the TPMS sensors I purchased off of Amazon for the install of my gramlights 57cr on my 07 is250 rwd.

I took the TPMS sensors to American Tire in Carson, Ca and had one of their guys who knew about these cars program the sensors to the car. Within 10 minutes, the sensors were up and running and I haven't had a light since.

I also purchased and installed Denso 550-0103 TPMS Sensors on my 06 IS350. Just copied down the serial numbers prior to installation and programmed those values with the techstream.

You can use universal sensors. But honestly just find a good tire shop. The one around me charges $40 per tire. And just not worth the hassle(for me at least) of buying my own sensors and programing them then installing. $40. Tire and I'm set for the life of the car pretty much
