Default Check VSC after midpipe install

I have recently installed the invidia midpipe on my 2006 IS250 Auto RWD. I've driven nearly 200 miles after installation and I'm now getting a check engine light and a check vsc message on my dash. The traction control off symbol is also showing. It's the 2nd time it's happened after isolating the battery.

I have checked the error codes on tech stream software and it is showing codes C1201, P0157 (image attached).

P0157 is Oxygen Sensor Circuit Low Voltage (Bank 2 Sensor 2).

Does anyone know what side this is and how I can resolve?

P0157 code

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Don't worry about the check VSC. That warning comes on when the o2 sensor is reading beyond its parameters (or has errors) meaning that something changed in the levels of oxygen in your midpipe.
Best of luck!

The ECU disables Traction Control whenever Check Engine Light is on. That's why you get Check VSC and Traction Control lights.
I would check for leaks in your exhaust first.
Bank 2 O2 sensor plug is under the carpet on driver side.
Downstream Left DENSO 234-4518 $60 dollars on RocKAuto.
Look for videos on YouTube.

Hope that helps.

Thanks a lot for the part number. I live in the UK so my car is right hand drive. So I assume this sensor is under the passenger side carpet. I'll look for leaks and clean the sensor with carb cleaner and see if that solves it

Don't use carb cleaner as it leaves residue that damages the sensor.
It has 1200°F gasses there, Because it was error free before install, fix the leak / misalignment and chances are it goes away on it's own...

Thanks for the heads up. I think I might have damaged the sensor's cable while unscrewing it. I attempted to unscrew it without disconnecting it from inside the car (silly me).

I'm trying to figure out how to use a multimeter to test it before buying a replacement.

Does it have sensor related OBD codes with a cel on?
Watch a couple of utube videos on using an ohm meter. If you have a specific question, post up.

One word of caution is this: because the sensor has heaters, they draw current. In the context of a bad wire you could have a 100 strand copper wire with 99 broken strands and it would ohm good because ohm meter do not induce a load. What I'm saying is that one strand could give you a false positive because the wire(s) are compromised and unable to carry sufficient current in the case of the heater.

If no codes for failed sensor the problem may be real.

Thanks again for the part numbers. I've been searching around for DENSO 2344518 and there doesn't appear to be a single place in the UK that sells it. It's sold in the US and it is apparently only for AWD models.

In the UK I've found Denso DOX-0277 which doesn't come with that cylinder metal shield or rubber grommet.

Can you please advise where you got the DENSO 2344518 part number from and are you sure it's compatible with my 2006 RWD IS250?

It appears that downstream Left and Right are the same sensors for RWD 234 4521
Hopefully Jeff Lange reads this thread and can help out our UK fella.
Is your car automatic or standard? You could contact your Lexus dealer to see if the same sensor goes on both sides.
This is what I found out so far...

2006 Lexus IS250 Oxygen Sensor - Downstream 6 cyl 2.5L Denso 234-4521 RWD

2006 Lexus IS250 Oxygen Sensor - Downstream Right 6 cyl 2.5L Denso 234-4521 AWD

2006 Lexus IS250 Oxygen Sensor - Downstream Left 6 cyl 2.5L Denso 234-4518 AWD

Are you able to get 234-4521 in the UK?

Yeah my car is auto. Can't seem to find 234-4521 from a UK seller either. However, I can get it from rockauto by 6th of August for $95. I think that's probably my best option at this point because I probably shouldn't be driving around with a faulty sensor too long.

Thanks for your help

Not that I'm advocating this but there is the option of a well executed under vehicle splice using adhesived lined heat shrink tubing at a fraction the cost.

Use uninsulated butt splice connectors if you follow this path.

Thanks for the suggestion, I actually did end up replacing the O2 sensor and unfortunately the code still reappeared.

I might try using different exhaust gaskets incase there's some leak I can't see. If that doesn't work I'll have to revert to the stock midpipe again ☹️

If there's any automotive geniuses out there, I've attached some obd scanner reports I can't make sense off myself

If you can get the safely in the air and have it idling, plug an exhaust tip and run your hand around suspect areas and you will be able to feel the exhaust leak if present.

Looks like everything is working so B2S2 is your fault as its voltage doesn't change but its working. I'd go with exhaust leak as its not detecting CO as its saturated with O2.

Have look/listen and let us know what you find.
