Default High mileage is350

Hi guys I’m considering buying an older is350 with about 225+ kms on it. I know they are reliable cars but I am worried as I just got rid of an is250 after the motor went.

140k miles probably still have 100k more to go if it was maintained correctly.

What are some of the more common issues on a IS350, What should one look out for or inspect when looking at the vehicle. I know for the IS250 we had the carbon build up issues and subsequent CSP to replace the piston rings etc. So for a 250 I wouldn't buy one unless I could confirm the CSP was done. We didn't get the sticky dash CSP in Canada but if in the States that's something I'd look out for too.

I think the 350 had a recall for the start up rattle with the cam gears or something similar to the 250 but not sure if the Canadian market received it as well, It's really engine and transmission components I'd be worried about.

Again I'm not that knowledgeable on the 350 common issues but would be curious to hear from the experts.

I just crossed 250,000 km (155,342 miles) on my 2006 IS350 today. I got the timing cover and belt replaced this past summer for $3,000 (was leaking oil, dealer wanted $5,000, but my local guy did it by just pulling out the front end instead of lifting the engine out), but other than that I've just done the standard brakes and tires that any older car will inevitably require.

Well, I also hit a raccoon last year, requiring a new front fender.

It does burn oil, though. I need to add a litre every couple weeks, which is kind of annoying. I think I'm just going to live with that until the car drives into the ground. No point in doing some kind of major engine overhaul on a 14-year-old car like this, I don't think.

I'm getting ready to purchase an IS 350 for $4000 with 244k on the clock. Ran my GS400 for well above that without a single issue other than basic maintenance. Car was dealer maintained via CarFax verification and the car is immaculate. I'll be the second owner so I'm felling lucky.

I have a little over 197K miles on my '08 and I've replaced two alternators, one water pump, and one fuel pump. That's about it besides other basic maintenance and wear-and-tear items (brakes, rotors, batteries, etc.).
