Default Rear Tire Spoiler

As I was trying spacers, I noticed that I was missing a spoiler, as shown in the picture. The reason I noticed is that I saw the left hand spoiler dangling down, lost 2 or 3 plastic pins. So I installed new plastic clips. And when I checked on the driver side, I probably lost the same spoiler.

So…where can I source this plastic spoiler? Anybody?

Yup I saw it but now confirmed. Steep, $30. And it should have a LH and RH side. I wonder which one's which. And turns out there are 2 clips and a 10 mm bolt that holds it.

I don't know if I need to bother to get it.

Both of mine started dangling as well, so I just removed them.

I just took em off. Got tired of reattaching them.

I also got tired of reattaching them with the plastic pins, so I tried using a nice thick zip tie. Been a few years, and it hasn't broken since.

Yup, just put in plastic clips the day I found out I was missing the Pass side. Last night, I checked it and the 2 clips were gone. I replaced them with better ones and I will check if they still unclip. If it happens again, I will screw it in with metal screws.

They were designed for a reason, probably tire noise, buffeting, etc.

I came upon amayama.com and it was the best price but delivery is 2-3 weeks via Japan Parcel Post. Suits me fine. I was ready to drop by a Toyota dealer and order it but saved me a trip.

they are called 'strakes'.
had the same issue:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...ake-clips.html

I bought aftermarket clips from amazon which are much tighter fit and they haven't come loose since - over a year ago.
they aren't overly critical but they aid in air flow.

I work for an injection molding company - Japanese and we have a ton of different clips, finally used ones that have remained so far but will replace them with better ones.

There is a 10 mm bolt that holds the spoiler, and if that gives way, that's how you lose it. This 10 mm bolt needs tightening up periodically.

No doubt that you will have to raise the car to get this spoiler in mounted the right way.

I found a Japanese website that offered the part at 50% of the price, delivered by Parcel Post with tracking. I pulled the trigger and paid for it. The best thing is their search engine was so fast and the drawings were much better than what you can find on a Lexus retailer’s website.

It gave me updates on when they ordered the part locally in Japan, when it delivered to their warehouse and after they shipped to me by Parcel Post.

Once I receive my part, I will share my experience. Hopefully it is a good one and maybe I can make a recommendation!

Here are the install pics. BTW, it came within 6 working days. OEM. I made sure it will not be removed again.

I took a sharp box cutter blade to those "flaps" on my second day of ownership of my 2IS. LOL! Never liked the way they look on cars; and yes, I understand their function. IDK! HA!
