Default Building custom subwoofer box. Port direction?

Ok so I'm building a custom subwoofer box. Does anyone have an idea which way the direction of the port should be and should I do one or 2 ports?. I'm planning on making the subs fire backwards. If I leave the trunk pass open and put the port facing the passage into the cabin will it make the system louder? My box right now isn't cutting it. Thanks!

I had a 4th order bandpass that ported through my rear armrest hole. It was a fun math problem for the builder to match the resonate frequency of the car and after a few different try’s I found 2 jl 10w6s did best with the design.

It reallly knocked for a trunk that’s walled off pretty much. But I ended up getting rid of it because it weighed a metric ****ton and I had zero trunk space. Also it made the sunroof track worse than it already was.

I had a similar setup in my ES. But just 1 12 I loved it cuz I didn't have to worry about the trunk rattling. Got very loud too.

Dope. Exactly what I'm gonna do. Where your subs still back firing. I'm running 2 type Rs at 1500watts Rms so im hoping I can achieve better results. My current gorund Shaker box doesn't give the subs enough volume and is tuned to 45hz. Don't like it. I don't care about Trunk space don't use it either way. Lol my sunroof already dances. The roof flexes a little hoping to achieve way better results gonna be my first box build but I already calculated everything with WINISD. I still can't really give each sub 2.5 cubix feet but I'm gonna try and fit the box as tight as possible to get as close to that as I can. Pretty excited to tackle it

They are super nice for that. Unfortunately in a 2is you gotta hear some mean sunroof rattle without subs.

the other positive is the box design can sound wicked good low power if tuned to the right frequency for the car.

The downside is if not tuned right they will be very loud at its small peak and quieter on the rest of the frequency range.

I calculated the box to 35hz. Planning on just doing a aero port out of PVC sticking right into the cabin or I might just do what everyone else does and point it backwards twords the trunk or sideways. Did you still get alot of shaking with it into the cabin? I don't want it to just blow air like a A/C in there I want it to shake. It already flexes the whole interior a little. In my navigator I had a huge sealed box and litterally the interior looked like it's gonna explode that's what I want. so I'm not sure if the port into the cabin will just be louder or if it'll actually help the car shake too. Might try it out and if I don't like it plug the port and do it in the front

I had the ML system in there and I’m pretty sure I pulled out the factory 8” sub in the rear deck lid and used that to get into the cabin.

Yeah I did the same thing I removed my stock sub. Well I ended up ordering a custom box that didn't even fit but it was to spec what exactly I wanted. I hate the tiny trunk but it's ok. I'll just stick to what I have it still bumps my windshield and the whole roof flexes. But I always want more lol

I copped this when I did my system and saved most of my trunk space.. so much so I can still fit the stroller in the trunk! Mounted the amp the the back of the box before sliding it into place, super clean.

Yeah I've seen those wayyyy to small. Less then a fool per chamber after you put the subs in. My current box is at 1.8 per chamber the custom box I got built is 2.5 per chamber . 2.5 per chamber is ideal even if the subs say 1-1.5 is fine. I don't really mind having no trunk space as long as I can fit little stuff on the sides it doesn't bother me
