2006 IS250 "Check PCS System" error
third time this has occurred in 2 years of ownership , wrote this to Lexus Australia today :
Hi Lexus Australia,
I am the frustrated owner of a 2006 IS250 SL.
I once again required to book the vehicle in for a repair as the "Check PCS System" error has appeared multiple time in 2 years of ownership.
The last "re-alignment" of the front radar PCS system was performed in January 2018. At this time, there was a small crack identified in my number plate surround (no damage in the front bumper skin/anything else), most likely from another vehicle tapping the front of the car and potentially throwing the alignment out. I believed this and agreed to the idea and after a day in service the vehicle was ready for collection. However the vehicle faulted again a few days later. It was returned and re-aligned again.
Since January 2018 there has been no damage found nor rough driving conditions and once again this error has appeared. I spoke to my local Lexus dealer who are happy to assist me in another re-alignment/code check however they also would like to charge me another $400-500 fee for completing the re-alignment.
I understand the PCS system was an advanced feature for its time of release and the "Check PCS System" error is a common fault for the production years 06-08, there are many write ups and information available on the internet regarding this error within the USA and Australia, however most stories end with Lexus having to replace an ECU/sensor in the vehicle to completely eradicate the fault as it is a known fault / issue.
Lexus Australia I have been told charge for this replacement of the faulty ECU at the cost of $1700-2500 plus the labour for fitting.
I would take a guess, that I am not the only 2006 Lexus IS250 owner experiencing this in Australia, nor can I understand having to pay a $400-500 fee when the alignment is required on the PCS system to stop a fault occurring to which no user-end fault can be presumed.
I look forward to hearing from you so we can discuss this further.
Regards
Ive done all the searching i can on the interwebs, but it seems as though the IS250 range doesnt often appear, its more the GS/LS range in the USA that had this fault.
Does anyone else have any info to assist me ?
THANKS!
