Hey everyone. I have a 2007 IS350, when my RPM's hit the redline, my battery light comes on. This only happens in the RPM Red zone and immediately goes away when below redline. Is this a problem with my alternator or is this normal?
Never seen it mentioned or seen mine do it. I'd inspect the belt and tensioner. If the tensioner is weak, the belt may be floating over the pulleys.
You might just have some rev it while doing an inspection. Maybe you see something. Also with the engine off, put a wrench on the tensioner and make sure it has some fight in it.
Last thing; the alternator has an over-run sprague clutch built into the pulley, it could be slipping but I doubt it. Look for red rust coming out of pulley.
I'd start with a new belt tho! Well unless its the rear tire spinning losing grip!
