I'm sorry if this has been asked before, I wasn't able to find any info when I searched the forums... What I was thinking about doing is swapping the navigation console area of my 06 IS 350 with the parts from a 2010-2012. The trim around the screen looks a little bit better on these, as does the actual user interface on the system. Has anyone done this before? Are there any issues with this?

I wouldn't recommend doing this swap as 2010-2012 uses 6th generation Navigation system which it PITA to update and only can do it at stealership vs 2006-2009 uses 5th gen navigation where you can just swap out the new disc by yourself. Just my 2 cents.
As for the trim around the screen, swap with 2009 console because it has the new updated look and still uses 5th Generation Navigation System like your 2006.

Thanks for the info on the 2009 trim piece. I'm still thinking about the 2010 because the interface is a bit nicer for the radio and climate controls, and I'm not so concerned with the navigation system.
Afaik, you will most likely need to figure out wiring.
It would take a lot of effort.
I'm going to see if I can find pin-outs for the connectors, I don't think it would make sense for them to dramatically change the connectors unless the unit is interfacing with different digital systems, and with that being said I imagined swapping those over as well.
