So do 09+ dashboards fit in the 06-08 models?

I want to replace the dash myself and Im looking for the correct part number. Its pretty darn confusing as some things don't make sense or cross reference. I own a 2006 is250 manual, but I cross referenced also for a 2008 is350. Both using vins as well... Im trying to replace my dash and give my old one to the is350 as mine looks better than their current condition.

I know there should be 2 different dash styles cosmetically pretty much. The 2009 and up have a different newer climate control and air vent shape, while 2006-2008 had its own shape. So it should be 2 styles if it was that easy....

From my research online it seem the older style is double the price, while the new style is cheaper. Based on the site Lexuspartsnow.com older models is around $420 without shipping, while the newer model is $220 without shipping.

What doesn't make sense is the part numbers for the older style seems to say discontinued, but says its been replaced with another part number leading to the newer design. The older style only includes 2006 and 2007 however. 2008 even though I know visually looks the same as 2006 and 2007, is compatible with the new part number.

Here is what I found in my research just based of lexuspartsnow.com.... Other sites are even more confusing. Even though I inserted my VIN.

Part number : 55400-53902 , shows on parts site as fitting 2006-2007 models , PRICE $420

Part number : 55400-53904 , replaces 55400-53902, shows on parts site as fitting 2006-2007 models , PRICE $420

Part number : 55400-53906 (MultiSupersession), replaces 55400-53904 , shows on parts site as fitting 2007 only on lexuspartsnow.com but on other sites listed as fitting 2008 and up. PRICE $294

Part number : 55400-53909-C0 , replaces 55400-53906 , shows as fitting 2008 and up PRICE $294

Im gonna call dealer ship tomorrow, but anyone know what part I need for my 2006 is250 manual? Also I want to know if its interchangeable with a 2008 is350... They share the same older style and look the same. The part reference on sites make no sense as they put 2008 in with the newer style vents. But i know for sure they had the same gunmetal round shaped vents.

My questions is if the older dash style for 2006-2008 is discontinued, if I use a 2009 and up model dash would it work? Obviously the vent and maybe the climate control has to be updated to the newer models for it to fit flush correct?
How difficult is it to install a new dash pad? I can't imagine it would be fun.

I am surprised at how cost effective this part is considering it a new OEM dash pad.

I am about to get mine replaced at my dealer on Friday. I saw pictures on youtube of the replacement and it looked like a bomb had gone off inside, way above my skills! The service manager agreed to match the price I found from Discount Parts Monster, which saved about $50. It is about 6+ hours of labor and they are doing it for $600. It's a lot of money but I can't stand looking at it. I replaced the front door panels myself, an incredibly easy job. I used the old panels to experiment on and think I can clean the rear panels thoroughly and paint then with a flat paint. I will use an adhesion promoter first and then a couple of coats of paint. The trial I am doing with a small section painted on one is in the heat of my attic now to see what happens. So far, looks good.

I am the original owner but didn't realize that ALL IS's were subject to the problem. The car was not driven a lot in its early life and was left in a garage. When I realized that there was a problem, the recall was over, so I am paying for my stupidity!

I have looked into it (but have not done it yet. just about to order it though). It looks like it would be a day worth of work. Less if you are full time at it and not distracted by life or anything and have all the tools set. I will report back when ever i get the part and get it done. I have kids though so that could be in 2 weeks or 5 months...

As stated earlier, just had my dash replaced on Friday. Labor ended up at $400.00 plus parts. Fully satisfied! If I were to trade, I may not get more, but without replacing, I think I would get less! This is my wife's car and she still loves it. Would not consider trading the car, so we are both happy!

Just ordered a dash panel from my local Lexus dealer. They told me to use part number 55400-53909-C0. Will hopefully be replacing this weekend if the parts come in. Will update after the swap. Do note that placing the order online was cheaper than what they said on the invoice. All together it should cost about $344.42.
