New Lexus owner general questions
Hi everyone. I recently purchased an 08 Lexus is250 for a really good price with 150k miles. It was serviced for the majority of its life at a Lexus service center with proof of maintenance however the car was not driven for over a year. I purchased the car to serve as a daily driver and have always liked the way it looked, so I do anticipate to add my touch to it considering how outdated it is.
I’ve done all the fluid flushes, tires, and alignment already. I plan to purchase 6 NGK 6858 spark plugs this weekend since rock auto is selling them for a good price and I’ve ran the brand on previous cars. I did see the is350 tutorial thread so it doesn’t look too bad of a job. Do you recommend me to use those or are the DENSO’s more reliable? I don’t plan to tune or make any performance mods to the car, I just need a reliable daily.
Additionally, if you could recommend me a screen replacement that includes Apple CarPlay…I possibly have the oldest interface with the CD and AUX feature without a screen/navigation. Ideally would like a screen that can fit and replace what I have and I’m not interested in the “Tesla screens”.
Any tips for a new owner would be greatly appreciated, looking forward to the build 👍🏼

When was the plugs changed? If they're changed recently, then you don't need to do that. I would get the OEM DENSO myself since they're not much more and time consuming to change. I suggest you read/watch how to do the IS250's since that's quite a bit harder to do.
Some Spark Plug / PCV replacement video tutorials that may assist you (I would not recommend use of anti-seize compound on plugs);

I replaced the spark plugs on my 2012 IS250 2 years ago. Not sure how equipped you are, but in addition to the usual socket and bits, what I found was useful was a flex head ratchet or ratchet wrench for that bolt behind the intake that people have trouble with. I suffered through the initial disassembly, but went and bought a 1/4' drive flexhead ratchet for the assembly, made that bolt way easier to install. Look out for the wire harness that attaches to the back of the intake as well, more than a few people have torn those wires when removing the intake. Once the intake is removed, replacing the spark plugs is not too bad. While you have things disassembled, good time to clean your throttle body. If you're really adventurous, can look into cleaning the intake valves which will likely have some carbon build up on them, or take it to someone we can walnut blast it and they can change your spark plugs at the same time.
I went with Denso 3473 spark plugs from Rockauto. But NGK should work just as well.
