Default Vinyl wrap chrome window trim

Questions for anybody thats had their chrome window trim wrapped..

My black trim tape is peeling and I've decided I'm going to have it wrapped gloss black to match the rest of my car. I'm just wondering what people have done in the past with their black trim tape - Do you wrap right over it?? Considering mine is already peeling I was thinking I would just remove it entirely. I did try to use some weatherstrip adhesive and glue part of it down on one window but quickly gave up due to how tedious it was.. and it didn't exactly look smooth when I was finished. I have a buddy who is going to do the window trim vinyl wrapping for me so I just want to have the car prepped and ready to go for when he does it.

You always want to wrap onto the original surface. Remove all previous additions and clean the area with alcohol+water or soap detergent + water (do not put soap on your paint, just the chrome trim). Do not use any rainX, wax, water beader, etc...

For me, my trim wasn't peeling so I just wrapped right over it. However, I probably would peel it off and clean it then wrap it up.

I’m looking to do that too. I have been teetering back and forth and am going be using Autoflex instead of vinyl wrap after seeing some of it used. But definitely wrap the original surface. Post pics when you’re done. 👍
