Rod knock???

Rod knock???

So I’ve had this car for maybe a year I’ve done all the oil changes on time and the car has been great. Yesterday I woke up when I turned on the car I heard a loud rattle and now the car seems to be making a knocking sound from the engine. I’m not really good with cars so I’m not to sure what this could be but I kinda wanna get an understanding before I take it to a mechanic. If it is rod knock I would need a new engine which in that case might be time to get a new car. It’s a 2006 is350 with 118k miles please if anyone could help would be great

i have 2008 is250 160k. Mine has the famous rattle at startup which is the intake cam gears. Yours could be that just worst symptoms, from my understanding the cam gear wears out and gets loose or something, correct me guys if i am wrong. I am in your shoes too not sure if its worth fixing. I would fix it my self no problem there but not sure.

There's definitely something happening that shouldn't be. So this all started when you started it up stone cold and you got what was probably referred to as the "cam rattle". Then this knocking started thereafter? Is this RPM-dependent?
