Default Avant Garde-20 slight rub

Ok I have spent several hours searching and I cannot match my setup. I apologize for another wheel post. I got a great deal on some Avant Garde wheels off a guy owning an ISF 08. I have an 08 IS 250. So should all fit right. Well.. He is lowered and advised me the rears need to be rolled. No problem. My issue is the front. It clears anything important but the plastic are still very slightly rubbing after heating up the plastics. The rub is these wheels came with New unmounted Hankook tires 245/35/20. I will eventually need rear tires but not right away. So the tires I need to replace seem to fit and the ones I have new tires may be too big. I realize what size you use needs to match in ratio which is where I am struggling. Do I put the tires I have on and deal with the slight rubbing in hard turns or is there a better option? As in is there a better size for the front and back and just sell the new tires I got with the wheels. Below are the specs I have.

Front 245/35/20 Wheels are 20x9 et35
Rear 285/30/20 Wheels are 20x10.5 et45

Right now I'm on Stock height which look pretty good. Once I get the tires worked out I may look into my spring options but not a priority right away.

Thank you for any advice you have.

Tire size is your main problem, 245/35/20 is too big you need 235/30/20 or 245/30/20. Offset of the Rims plays a big role as well. Google tire size comparison and compare diameters of the stock wheels to the ones you’re trying to fit

Been running 245/30/20 for over 10 years. My offsets are pretty weak so I can do that and still be no gap low. Had to trim headlight/fender bracket to make it work.

It used to be no rub but I fixed my camber so it rubs more when I turn.

In the rear I run 275/30/20 but with your offset and width, 285/30/20 should be fine with maybe slight trim or roll of quarter fenders. I know for my wheels and the weak rear offset, the inner rubs the small 10mm nut/stub for the rear lining.

My brother runs 225/30/20 in the front and 255/30/20 in rear but he has more aggressive offsets.

Thank you both for the reply. I have spent most of the day working on this. I have come up with dropping to the specs below. Anyone have this setup? I'm pretty sure this work in the front but if I go with FSport springs will I need to roll the rear fenders?

Front 235/35/20 Wheel 20x9 et35
Rear 275/30/20 Wheel 20x10.5 et 45

FSport springs.

Anyone have this exact setup?

the 10.5 in the rear might cause some issues but I can't be certain.. I run a 9.5" 275/35/19 with a 45 offset and I have zero rubbing being on F sport springs.

My fronts are 8.5" 225/35/19 +35 and I rub slightly full lock reverse - nothing that I worry about

Considering your just stepping up to 20's you shouldnt have issues in the front especially considering your camber will become negative when you drop the car an inch.

I can't relate to the 10.5" rear but its an inch wider then my rears with the same width tire.. so the stretch might give you that little bit of room you'll need to clear your fenders

that front 35 series will give you trouble. You definately need a 30 series, no matter the width. I would recommend you look the three sizes between 225/30 to 245/30 and see which tire is most readily available and best costs.

The rear with 275 might be best option for a 10.5 rim, anything less might be stretching it. Also thats a very common size and fairly low cost vs. a 265/30.

Thanks again for all the advice. So have installed coilovers. Reducing the gap has it sitting good. I still have rub in the front. I thought I could work the plastics but I can't seem to get rid of all the rub. So here is my question. I have the rear fenders rolled and am seem to be ok at the height I want. I certainly can go lower and rub but for now I'm good. The rears are 285/30/20. Currently my fronts are 245/35/20. If I go down to 235/35/20 do I create an issue with keeping the rear? These all fall within a 26" diameter wheel.

For anyone searching for this in the future. 245/30/20 fit in the front. Rides still good not to harsh but I do have coil overs and can adjust the dampening. I need to lower my coilovers still and I will post a pic after.

If only the edges were the issue. 245/35/20 is too big in diameter throughout the whole tire. Heights not the issue width was.
