Default Tachometer Orange Light

I was driving early AM around 6 and had my lights on. Driving was otherwise normal and no engine or other gauges/lights came on when out of the blue the white circle around the tachometer turned orange and flashed once or twice slowly before the white running light sequence came back on.

I have not seen those lights come on before or since.

Has anyone experienced the same? Is it a sign of a potential sensor problem on the dashboard?

Best,

JB

No, it is a settable warning for RPM. Use the controls to the left of the steering wheel (looks like <O> ) to set it. There is also a similar settable warning for speed. Also you'll get a red ring when you go past 100MPH.

Must have been nicely on the throttle early in the AM, freeway on ramp perhaps?

I think Lexus calls them "satellite buttons". Basically toggle through the settings while in PARK, and select to remove the feature OR adjust the MPH and/or the RPM that the LED illuminates.

LOL!!!

we got a speed racer here.

The orange ring around the speedometer or tactometer is a warning for going too fast or too high rpm.

Its nothing to worry about and there's nothing wrong with your car.

I think the default for speedometer is 80mph. If you are at or exceed 80mph, the orange ring will go on. Same goes with, I think 6k rpm?

the orange warning lights could be turned off in your dash settings. Push the button on the dash below the bottom left of your steering wheel and you'll see the settings for on/off where it displays mpg/speed/gears, etc...

Default for the speedometer is orange at 75 mph and red at 100 mph. Default for the tach is orange at 5000 rpm and red at over 6500 rpm.

I don't blame anyone for wanting to see those lights though. No other car in this segment has those and it is a really nice touch to the car. So never stop going fast! (within reason of course)
