IS220d - Sub gone off/grounding/earthing ?

IS220d - Sub gone off/grounding/earthing ?
My 2006 IS220D has the Mark Levingson surround sound which I love.
Lately it sounds VERY crackley !
It now has stopped but sounds like the crackling has taken the sub out, is this easy to diagnose and sort out ?
Maybe it could be a loose cable somewhere or something?
I'm crap with electrics etc so PLEASE be very specific when explaining for an absolute beginner haha
